On Friday, the Johnson Jaguars were fully in charge, breezing past the McAllen Memorial Mustangs 49-21 on the road. Given the Jaguars' advantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings  (they are ranked 185th, while the Mustangs are ranked 533rd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.

 Johnson now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for McAllen Memorial, their defeat  ended  a  four-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 2-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson will have plenty of time to enjoy the  victory as they don't play again for a while. They'll take on Brandeis at 7:00  p.m.  on September 28th. As for McAllen Memorial, they are taking a road trip to  square off against Rio Grande City  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. McAllen Memorial is facing Rio Grande City at the right time seeing as Rio Grande City is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak.
