Ritchie County is 0-10 against Tyler since May of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ritchie County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Doddridge County on Tuesday.
Brayson Hayes was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Turner Shriver, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
Ritchie County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Tyler not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28, 2025 (when they won 22-3). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Valley a 13-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Brayden Neff made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Neff was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashton Morris, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Tyler: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Brennon Miller also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Ritchie County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-17. As for Tyler, their record now sits at 8-12.
Ritchie County might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Tyler in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
