Baseball Recap: Mills University Studies Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fountain Lake, Mills University Studies was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Watson Chapel Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Comets: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in March, they had to take a 8-5 loss.

Aaramis Briggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. He has become a key player for Mills University Studies: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Jarratt, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Rainan Barlow, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mills University Studies has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Watson Chapel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mills University Studies will square off against Hot Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Watson Chapel, they will take on Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
