Ragsdale is 1-6 against Northern Guilford since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Ragsdale Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Northern Guilford Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Ragsdale has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Northern Guilford will arrive with seven straight wins.
Ragsdale pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Western Guilford. Ragsdale has not had much luck with Western Guilford recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Ragsdale saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Parker scored 34 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'mya Boddie, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Northern Guilford can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Grimsley 76-41 at home. Given Northern Guilford's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Grimsley is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northern Guilford found their leader in underclassman Leena McField, who scored 25 points. McField has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cara Trippett, who scored 14 points.
Ragsdale dropped their record down to 5-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Northern Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
Ragsdale was dealt a bruising 70-34 defeat at the hands of Northern Guilford in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ragsdale was down 33-9.
