Lockney and Clarendon are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2022, but likely not for long. The Longhorns will host the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lockney is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Lockney earned a 6-2 victory over Floydada.
Dyllan Thiebaud made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 16 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavier Jimenez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josiah Cuellar, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Clarendon came out on top against Quanah on Monday by a score of 11-9 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like Lockney, Clarendon also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Sims. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sims is becoming a predictor of Clarendon's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Sims was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Klay Wilkins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Clarendon is undefeated when Wilkins posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Bryce Williams was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
The victory got Clarendon back to even at 8-8. As for Lockney, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lockney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Clarendon struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lockney might still be hurting after the 20-12 loss they got from Clarendon when the teams last played back in March. Will the Longhorns have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
