There's no place like home for The Hilmar Yellowjackets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Hughson 24-23. The victory was just what Hilmar needed coming off of a 49-21 defeat in their prior contest.
Caden Bailey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Bailey's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Hilmar also got a significant boost from Logan Cardoso, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Despite the loss, Hughson still got an impressive performance from Robert Mcdaniel, who threw for 248 yards and a touchdown.
Hilmar's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. As for Hughson, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilmar will square off against Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Modesto Christian is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Hughson, they will head out on the road to face off against Ripon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ripon and Hughson are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
