Two dominant backs in Kaleb Fenner and Nathan Timmerman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Yutan Chieftains will take on the Norfolk Catholic Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Yutan will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Yutan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past North Bend Central, posting a 64-20 victory. Considering the Chieftains have won six contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Yutan can attribute much of their success to Otto Henkel, who rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown, and Nathan Daniell, who threw for 61 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Daniell a new career-high in passer rating (159.2).
Yutan's run defense was locked in: North Bend Central could only muster 0.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Kale Hoffer for the heroic effort on defense: he. Yutan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.3.

Yutan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Fenner and Maddox Wentworth. With that strong performance, Fenner is now averaging an impressive 113.6 rushing yards per game.
Meanwhile, Norfolk Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 27-7 to Cedar Catholic. Knights fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Trojans since Friday.
Yutan's record now sits at 7-2. As for Norfolk Catholic, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Yutan has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Norfolk Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 194.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Yutan ended up a good deal behind Norfolk Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, losing 28-14. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
