Bellows Falls has won eight straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Mount Anthony has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Terriers will host the Patriots at 11:00 a.m. Bellows Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Bellows Falls is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Green Mountain, who was ranked 19th at the time (Bellows Falls was ranked 14th). The Terriers walked away with an 8-4 win over the Chieftains on Friday.
Jaden Bazin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Bazin wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Tostrup, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Tostrup has posted since back in April. Declan Lisai was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mount Anthony got themselves on the board against Fair Haven on Tuesday, but Fair Haven never followed suit. They blew past the Slaters 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Bellows Falls, Mount Anthony also got a great game from a two-way player: Hunter Sherwin. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Sherwin was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jacoby Dicranian was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Colby Hill, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one run.
Bellows Falls is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Anthony, their win bumped their record up to 11-2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bellows Falls has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mount Anthony struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bellows Falls suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Mount Anthony in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Terriers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
