The Bucktail Bucks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Curwensville. While losing is never fun, Bucktail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while Curwensville is ranked 257th).
Davis Fleming continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Curwensville, dropping a double-double on 41 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fleming has scored at least 25% of Curwensville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Swanson, who scored seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Bucktail now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Curwensville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bucktail will play host again and welcome Weatherly, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Weatherly is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Curwensville will finish 2023 at home by hosting Clearfield at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Clearfield is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
