Kendra Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Hayes, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mya Friese, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Neoga struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central A & M, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Shelbyville on Tuesday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Gwyn Hardimon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, Central A & M got a massive performance out of Sophie Roe, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Snearly, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Central A & M's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central A & M struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Central A & M when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 7-6. Will Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg repeat their success, or does Central A & M has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
