The Phoenix Christian Cougars will take on the Tonopah Valley Phoenix at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Tonopah Valley will be up against a hot Phoenix Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Phoenix Christian was the clear victors by a 25-3 margin over Red Rock on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Karly Van Metre was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Phoenix Christian got a massive performance out of Elizabeth Fisher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Fisher also got a hit, marking her first of the season. Hannah Fisher was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, everything went Tonopah Valley's way against Odyssey Institute on Monday as Tonopah Valley made off with a 27-8 victory.
Shiloh Walker was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two triples. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Procunier, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.
Tonopah Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .776. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Odyssey Institute only posted an OBP of .500.
Phoenix Christian pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tonopah Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Phoenix Christian took their win against Tonopah Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3. Will Phoenix Christian repeat their success, or does Tonopah Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
