The Cummings Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the North Moore Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cummings is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Friday, Cummings took a serious blow against Northwood, falling 57-17. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while Northwood is ranked 85th).
Meanwhile, North Moore scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 victory over Graham. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for North Moore considering their eight-point performance the match before.
North Moore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zeikierra Young, who scored 28 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Calissa Clendenin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Cummings' loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for North Moore, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
Cummings came up short against North Moore when the teams last played back in January, falling 44-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clendenin, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
