The Putnam City Pirates will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Tahlequah Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Putnam City will be strutting in after a victory while Tahlequah will be coming in after a loss.
Putnam City put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Northwest Classen at home to the tune of 71-13. The win was just what Putnam City needed coming off of a 65-20 defeat in their prior game.
Among those leading the charge was Judson Keefer, who threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Davien Taylor was another key contributor, picking up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Putnam City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 13 times. The heavy lifting was done by Cayden Hatlelid and Johnn Sheffey who racked up eight sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Tahlequah took a serious blow against Bartlesville on Friday, falling 51-20. Tahlequah has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Tahlequah saw an underclassman step up: Kingston Hall rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown. Hall really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
Putnam City's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Tahlequah, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
