The Slaton Tigers can finally bid farewell to their 17-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Lamesa with a 20-14 win. The victory was just what Slaton needed coming off of a 28-0 defeat in their prior match.
Despite the loss, Lamesa still got an impressive performance from Pedro Barrioz, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
Slaton's win bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Lamesa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Slaton will head out on the road to face off against Kermit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kermit is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Lamesa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Denver City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
