The Boothbay Seahawks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Monmouth Academy Mustangs at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Boothbay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Boothbay was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-41 to North Yarmouth Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Finn Harkins, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Luke Morley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Boothbay were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Monmouth Academy came tearing into last Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Waynflete 56-38.
Boothbay's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Monmouth Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Boothbay was taken down by Monmouth Academy 72-39 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Boothbay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
