If the Crown Point Panthers were feeling good off their 65-39 takedown of the Johnsburg Central Jaguars last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Crown Point ended up on the wrong side of a rough 51-28 walloping at the hands of Chazy on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crown Point in their matchups with Chazy: they've now lost five in a row.
Crown Point's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raegan Thomas, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Eva Sargent was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Chazy found their leader in underclassman Emma Howell, who scored 24 points. Another player making a difference was Carly LaPierre, who scored ten points.
Crown Point has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Chazy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crown Point will take on Bolton Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Crown Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Chazy, they will be playing at home against Keene Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Chazy's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Keene Central has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
