Baseball Recap: Knox Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bremen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Knox). Everything went their way against the Bremen Lions on Friday as they made off with a 19-7 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Redskins considering their two-run performance the match before.

Cain Weber and Xavier Boyd did most of the damage at the plate: Weber got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Boyd got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Knox is undefeated when Weber posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Rocco Venice also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Knox always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

With the victory, Knox broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-10. As for Bremen, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9-1.

Looking ahead, Knox will host LaVille at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bremen, they will venture away from home to challenge Morgan Township at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cherokees have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
