Softball Recap: Colony Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Colony had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Soldotna Stars. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meghan Schoon was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 13 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Gallagher, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Colony hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 13 consecutive games.

Colony's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Soldotna, they now have a losing record of 0-1-1.

Coming up, Colony will square off against North Pole at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Soldotna, they will venture away from home to square off against Houston at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Stars are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
