After two games on the road, Burr Oak is heading back home. They will take on the Athens Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Thursday, Burr Oak came up short against Colon and fell 52-42.
Meanwhile, sadly, Athens is still looking for their first win of the season after 16 matches. They were outmatched by Calhoun Christian on the road and fell 66-21. Athens has not had much luck with Calhoun Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Athens got a solid performance out of Kale Kiefer, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Kiefer pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Burr Oak's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Athens, their loss was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16.
Burr Oak strolled past Athens in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a score of 58-39. Will Burr Oak repeat their success, or does Athens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
