If the Montpelier Locomotives were feeling good off their 50-18 takedown of the North Central Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Montpelier fell 37-24 to Ayersville on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Montpelier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Ayersville is ranked 75th).
Ally Schindler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ayersville, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Schindler hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Taylor Craft was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Montpelier's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Ayersville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montpelier will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Hicksville at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Ayersville, they will square off against Kalida at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
