Basketball Recap: Devin Thomas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Friendly

After losing to Friendly the last time they met, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Tigers walked away with a 59-46 victory over the Friendly Patriots on Thursday.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Thomas out in front who went 8 for 15 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Thomas' third in a row with at least ten points. Micah Germain was another key player, putting up seven points along with 14 boards and three steals.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Friendly, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-51 loss against Bowie on the 21st. Friendly and Westfield will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. Westfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Friendly likes a good challenge.
