Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Academy Mustangs vs. Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering Sentinels

Oakwood Academy is 4-0 against Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering since December of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Oakwood Academy Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering Sentinels at 7:30 p.m. Oakwood Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 24 contests -- so hopefully Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Oakwood Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Madison Academy, but they still walked away with a 68-62 win.

Oakwood Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Lewis, who posted ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Those seven assists gave Lewis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylon Pognon, who had 16 points and five boards.

Oakwood Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering). They blew past St. Bernard Prep 72-13 on Monday. The Sentinels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Oakwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.

Oakwood Academy strolled past Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 79-64.
