Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Friona Chieftans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 35-14 walloping at the hands of Roosevelt on Friday. Friona has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Nate Casarez was on fire for Roosevelt: he rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Casarez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
Friona has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Roosevelt, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Friona does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Roosevelt will face off against Crane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crane is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
