The Daniel Boone Blazers will take on the Exeter Township Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Daniel Boone will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Conrad Weiser on Thursday. The Blazers were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Scouts. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Blazers this season.
The team relied heavily on Chase Yenser, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Kriebel, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Daniel Boone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Exeter Township waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Scouts by a score of 6-3.
Jake Hafer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Jake Franek was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Daniel Boone's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Exeter Township, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Daniel Boone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Exeter Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Daniel Boone beat Exeter Township 4-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Blazers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
