Having just played yesterday, the Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers will jump right back in to play the Silverdale Academy Seahawks at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Boyd-Buchanan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Boyd-Buchanan stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Collegedale Academy 72-37 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-16.
Even though Silverdale Academy has not done well against Notre Dame recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Silverdale Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Notre Dame 58-55. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but Silverdale Academy was the better team in the second half.
Kennedy Okpara continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brett Wright, who scored 14 points.
Boyd-Buchanan is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. As for Silverdale Academy, they pushed their record up to 25-3 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Boyd-Buchanan didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Silverdale Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. Will Boyd-Buchanan repeat their success, or does Silverdale Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
