Rock Hill is a perfect 6-0 against South Point since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Redmen will look to defend their home field against the Pointers at 5:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Rock Hill and Gallia Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Redmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Blue Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redmen have posted since May 1, 2024.

Isabelle Melvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rock Hill let Alaina Wilds and Charlee Long run wild. Wilds went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Long scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Samantha Bamer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
While South Point didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They won by a run and slipped past East Carter 3-2.
Kota Copley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. Copley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Alli Stidham was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Adyson Copley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
South Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
South Point is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rock Hill, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
Rock Hill took their win against South Point in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. Will the Redmen repeat their success, or do the Pointers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
