In what's become a running theme this season, the Odyssey Institute Minotaur gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 43-5 victory over Tonopah Valley at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Odyssey Institute has managed all season.
Leading Odyssey Institute to victory were Shelby Hunt and Eva Garcia Carrillo. Hunt dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Garcia Carrillo scored 18 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia Carrillo has scored all season. Samara Grubbs was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Odyssey Institute, bringing their record for this year to 9-12. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.33 points. As for Tonopah Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Odyssey Institute won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Yuma Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Yuma Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for Tonopah Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kingman at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Kingman is ranked 276th, while Tonopah Valley is ranked 299th).
