Covington Catholic faced Highlands in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Colonels blew past the Bluebirds 88-66. The Colonels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 21 points or more this season.

The victory (which was Covington Catholic's tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.4 points. As for Highlands, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-2.

Coming up, Covington Catholic will head out on the road to face off against St. Xavier at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Highlands, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cooper at 7:30 a.m. The Bluebirds will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.27 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
