Mica Mountain came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 58-46 on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Mica Mountain, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Isabella Webb continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mica Mountain's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Mathie, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Sahuarita lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Karol Ortiz, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Ortiz hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Abigail Silvester, who scored 12 points.
Mica Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Sahuarita, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.
Mica Mountain will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Walden Grove has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Sahuarita, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
