The Morrisville-Eaton Mavericks will take on the Clinton Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Morrisville-Eaton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Thousand Islands, who was ranked 20th at the time (Morrisville-Eaton was ranked third). The Mavericks claimed a resounding 66-0 victory over the Vikings. Winning may never get old, but the Mavericks sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Morrisville-Eaton found their leader in sophomore Wesley Dimperio, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. Dimperio has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Marland, who rushed for 61 yards and one score on only five carries.
Morrisville-Eaton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 380 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
One reason for the win was Morrisville-Eaton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Gavin Baker, Taiden Eaton, and Cade Zaleski, who each picked up one sack apiece. Baker was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clinton). They were the clear victors by a 52-28 margin over Tupper Lake last Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-6.
Morrisville-Eaton's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Morrisville-Eaton against Clinton in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 72-10 win. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
