This season hasn't been kind to The DeSoto County Bulldogs, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Osceola on Friday, falling 42-0. DeSoto County was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Osceola got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nate Gooden out in front who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Carter, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
DeSoto County's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Mariner and 10-3 Frostproof (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.9% over those games). As for Osceola, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
DeSoto County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Osceola will be playing at home against Largo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Largo is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
