The Churchill Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Magruder. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (58), Churchill still had to take the loss.
Magruder's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Dabbondanza led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Suarez, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Churchill dropped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Magruder, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
Churchill will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wootton at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Magruder, Magruder and Seneca Valley will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Seneca Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
