You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Pawhuska Huskies's strategy against the Newkirk Tigers on Friday. Pawhuska strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 40-25. Given Pawhuska's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Tigers are ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fallon Bowman was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with three blocks and two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Pawhuska's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Reynolds, who scored six points.
Pawhuska has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Newkirk, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Pawhuska and the Cougars will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Newkirk, they will head out on the road to face off against the Black Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
