Brighton dropped their record down to 8-13 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Olympus Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in April.
Alison Nikolaus was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Nikolaus was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Olympus, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.
On Olympus' side, Charlie Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Turner.
At the plate, Eliza Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Mia Potter also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
As of now, neither Brighton nor Olympus have any future games scheduled.
