It was a good run, but the Governor's Academy Governors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 41-21 walloping at the hands of Belmont Hill. While losing is never fun, Governor's Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Belmont Hill is ranked 33rd).
Belmont Hill found their leader in underclassman Marcus Griffin, who rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Griffin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Another player making a difference was R?is Little, who rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Governor's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Belmont Hill, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Governor's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Belmont Hill will be playing at home against Deerfield Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
