While Smithsburg didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Williamsport Wildcats on Tuesday. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Leopards have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Eli Bowman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Jaxon Teson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
The win made it two in a row for Smithsburg and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Williamsport, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Smithsburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Boonsboro at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Williamsport will square off against rival Middletown on Wednesday.
