Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Inlet Grove Hurricanes, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-46 walloping at the hands of the Rams on Tuesday. Inlet Grove was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as John Carroll Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2015.
Despite the defeat, Inlet Grove saw an underclassman step up: Robert Brown scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Benson Murat, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
John Carroll Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Collin Jefferson, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Pat Silas was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Inlet Grove has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 11-15.
Inlet Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. John Carroll Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cardinal Newman at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in Cardinal Newman's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matchups.
