Basketball Recap: Liberty Sets Scoring Season-High Against Elsinore

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They secured a 72-66 W over the Elsinore Tigers on Friday. For the Bison, this counts as revenge for the 56-53 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Elsinore's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Boatman, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Boatman has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nasir Bates, who went 7 for 11 en route to 20 points.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Elsinore, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10.

Liberty will take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Elsinore, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Temescal Canyon at 6:45 p.m. Elsinore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Temescal Canyon likes a good challenge.
