The Ludlow Panthers will head out to face off against the Bellevue Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ludlow is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Ludlow faced off against Calvary Christian on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 14-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Evie Orsua was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Orsua was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Ludlow got a massive performance out of Miley Lay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Charlotte Burke was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Ludlow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Bellevue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 14-10 to Lloyd Memorial.
Kinley Hawkins and Madalyn Kincaid did some serious damage despite the final result: Hawkins got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Kincaid got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney McCarty, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Ludlow picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 6-7-1. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Bellevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Ludlow has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bellevue, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will Ludlow keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
Ludlow took their win against Bellevue in their previous meeting on April 2nd by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
