After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Diboll, the Spurger Pirates were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Chester by a score of 40-29. For Spurger, this counts as revenge for the 62-51 loss Chester walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Chester lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sydney Brock. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals. Brock is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Abby Grimes was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
The win got Spurger back to even at 2-2. As for Chester, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Spurger will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Leggett at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Leggett is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Chester, they will square off against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
