After a string of four wins, the Pender Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 53-35 to East Columbus. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pender in their matchups with East Columbus: they've now lost four in a row.
East Columbus found their leader in underclassman Malia J. Graham, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points J. Graham has scored all season. Rylie Graham was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Pender's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for East Columbus, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pender the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome South Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. East Columbus will take on East Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Bladen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully East Columbus likes a good challenge.
