Baseball Recap: Cheshire Academy Drops Season-High Score on Wilbraham & Monson Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cheshire Academy). They never let the Wilbraham & Monson Academy Titans get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Friday. The Cats have beaten the Titans the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Titans has come to flipping the script.

Garret Snyder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Will Margolies looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Conner Crosbie was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Modica, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Cheshire Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Cheshire Academy pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Wilbraham & Monson Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
