Biloxi hasn't had much luck against Gulfport recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Admirals at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Biloxi turned things around against Harrison Central on Friday. They put the hurt on the Red Rebels with a sharp 31-6 victory. The Indians' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jordan Ramsey looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 220 yards and one TD, while also rushing for 39 yards.
Biloxi's run defense was locked in: Harrison Central could only muster -0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank William Lai for the heroic effort on defense: he. Biloxi's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.55 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.1 on average over their last five games.
Biloxi didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jakaiden Smith and Lai.
Meanwhile, Gulfport took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-14 win over West Harrison. The Admirals pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hurricanes had little chance of recovering from.
Gulfport had a senior duo take command as Cooper Crosby gained 167 total yards and three touchdowns and Parker Nettles threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns while completing 86.4% of his passes. Nettles' passing game has become a key predictor of the Admirals' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Gulfport's record now sits at 5-2. As for Biloxi, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Biloxi has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gulfport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Biloxi ended up a good deal behind Gulfport in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 21-7. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Crosby, who rushed for 119 yards and one score. Now that the Indians know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
