The Zanesville Blue Devils lost against the Heath Bulldogs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Zanesville fell 38-30 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Zanesville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 302nd).
Despite the loss, Zanesville still got an impressive performance from Kylie Osborne, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Osborne pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Seyfried, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Peyton Del cecato was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds for Heath. That makes it four consecutive games in which Del cecato has scored at least a third of Heath's points. Caroline Robertson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Zanesville has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Heath, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zanesville will play host again and welcome the Warriors, where tip off is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Watkins Memorial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Heath, they will be playing at home against the Redskins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Utica is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
