The Boothbay Seahawks fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Waynflete Flyers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flyers by a score of 72-70. Boothbay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Waynflete apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Boothbay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Finn Harkins. Despite the final result, he scored 40 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The game was Harkins' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyson French, who scored 19 points along with five assists.
Even though they lost, Boothbay were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Boothbay bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Waynflete, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Boothbay will be playing in front of their home fans against Maranacook at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maranacook has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Waynflete, they will head out on the road to face off against Cape Elizabeth at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cape Elizabeth comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
