The Frontier Titans will head out to challenge the Bakersfield Christian Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Frontier made easy work of Kingsburg and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Titans have won four games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Sloss spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Tanisha Escarcega was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Bailey Freeborn also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Frontier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingsburg only posted a batting average of .190.
Bakersfield Christian not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th. They put the hurt on Immanuel Christian with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Bakersfield Christian also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Mia Pintor gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cailee Carr, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddison Misuraca, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bakersfield Christian pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Frontier, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Frontier came out on top in a nail-biter against Bakersfield Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Frontier since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
