On Friday, the Ridgeline Riverhawks faced the Green Canyon Wolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ridgeline came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 49-36. The win was nothing new for Ridgeline as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ridgeline had a senior duo take command as Carson Cox dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds and Khyson Buchmiller scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least a third of Ridgeline's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Vazquez, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jared Anderson, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Anderson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Jaxson Drysdale was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Ridgeline has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Green Canyon, they dropped their record down to 14-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeline has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Bear River is ranked 29th, while the Riverhawks are ranked 18th). As for Green Canyon, they will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Mountain Crest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
