Central Plains recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Independent, who took down 105th ranked Douglass, 27-0. Matt Loveland threw for 122 yards and ran for 45 yards in the win.
The Panthers' Trey Williams rumbled for the longest rushing play in Central Plains this season in his game against the Bulldogs last week. Williams' team beat Douglass as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 63 in all.
Chandler Miranda was the best wideout in the league this week as Jarrod Hibler's team topped Brent Randolph's team. Miranda racked up one reception for 66 yards. Kevin Jarvis helped Independent's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
Drew Bonfiglio made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers bested the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-10 junior recorded one fumble.
Russell Peitz was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 74 yards as Medicine Lodge beat Douglass. Teammate Bryant Wornkey added to the ground attack by rushing for 26 yards.
The Panthers' Loveland and Jarvis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Central Plains in both passing and receiving yards. Loveland has thrown for 463 yards this season, while Jarvis, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has six catches for 166 yards. The Indians' Wornkey leads the league in rushing yards with 190.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cheney takes on Garden Plain. At the moment, the Cardinals are in third, while the Owls are in first.
Loveland and Miranda provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Bulldogs. The connection went for 66 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
