The Liberty Lightning were the 60-58 winner over the Prairie Hawks when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Liberty took a 71-52 bruising from Prairie on Friday.
Several Lightning players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trey Hughes, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Gage Kampman was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Prairie, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-9.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington is coming into the game with five straight losses at home, meaning Liberty will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Prairie will take on Dubuque Senior at TBD on Monday. One thing working in Prairie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
