Cordova hasn't had much luck against Northside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Devils will challenge the Rams at 2:30 p.m. The last four games Cordova has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Cordova fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Carbon Hill on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by just one run.
Khloe Herron put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Chloe Kacharos and Mia Vance did some serious damage despite the final result: Kacharos went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Vance went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Vance has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Beth Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Northside suffered their closest defeat since May 6, 2025 on Tuesday. They fell just short of American Christian Academy by a score of 11-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this matchup were averaging 2.92 runs allowed.
Cordova now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cordova hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Northside struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cordova might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Northside in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
